El Sitio de mi Recreo is a physical and online women’s clothing shop located in the centre of the city of Valencia (Spain). All the clothes and accessories that can be found in El Sitio de mi Recreo are chosen with great dedication and charm, so when I was commissioned with this project, I knew immediately that working on it would be very satisfying.
Online shop
In 2015, I created their first online shop and, although at the beginning it received a rather discreet number of sales, it was not without its usefulness, as the customers used to have it as a catalogue. In this way, they knew immediately the available stock of each garment, as well as the new articles and collections that, from time to time, entered the physical shop.
Moreover, many customers visited the physical shop after having browsed the online shop and were interested in the clothes displayed there.
During the pandemic, online sales skyrocketed because of the confinement situation, and also because of the know-how of Laura, founder of El Sitio de mi Recreo.
A success story
Following the increase in online sales, and as the website was already a few years old, I restyled the online shop in 2021. In fact, the design of the El Sitio de mi Recreo website has evolved over time, going through several stages in which it has been completely renovated, until the current web design.
Taking advantage of the restyling of the website, the brand image and logo were renewed and simplified, eliminating the colours of the logo to be more in line with the brands that El Sitio de mi Recreo sells. In this way, we have a cleaner and simpler image, but also more stylish, with much larger photographs and improved usability.
The website is self-manageable and has great autonomy to upload new products and make changes, as well as to manage orders.
What’s new on the website
Other innovations of the website are the sections Lookbooks and Magazine where the new trends and collections are shown.
Fonts and colours
Graphik LCG was chosen for the typeface, a sans-serif that is very attractive for its neatness and vintage look, as well as for the large number of styles and weights it has.
As for the colours, I opted for black and white, respectively, the colour of elegance and the feminine colour of innocence. Both represent the soul of El Sitio de mi Recreo and, since they are discreet colours, they allow giving prominence to the photos of the website, which is what it is all about.
Don’t stop dreaming
El Sitio de mi Recreo is the best example that if you are constant and persevere in achieving your goals, the results will eventually come. For a physical shop, it is paramount to have an online and updated catalogue where customers find out about the products available and, of course, much better if they have an online shop where they formalize sales directly.
